Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and client-focused Accounting Specialist to support multiple nonprofit organizations with their day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping needs.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients while providing responsive, professional service. While nonprofit accounting experience is preferred, candidates with solid general accounting or bookkeeping experience and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will work closely with a Senior Accountant and communicate directly with client staff to address routine accounting questions, manage bookkeeping activities, and support accurate financial operations.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities for multiple client accounts.
Maintain accurate accounting records and support ongoing financial processes.
Manage multiple entities and prioritize responsibilities across different clients.
Communicate directly with client staff to answer routine questions, request information, and resolve day-to-day accounting matters.
Escalate more complex accounting or financial matters to the Senior Accountant as needed.
Support accounting activities involving multiple departments, allocations, and grant-related tracking.
Work with accounting and expense-management platforms while quickly learning new systems as required by each client.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation across client accounts.
Provide a high level of customer service and build strong working relationships with clients.
Requirements:
Strong foundation in bookkeeping and accounting.
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop.
Strong Excel skills.
Experience managing multiple accounts, entities, departments, or clients is highly preferred.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to learn new accounting and financial systems quickly.
Strong communication and customer-service skills.
Comfortable working directly with clients and responding to day-to-day questions.
Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish.
Nice to Have:
Previous nonprofit accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Experience with grant tracking, allocations, multiple departments, or similar accounting structures.
Experience with Bill.com or comparable AP/expense-management platforms such as Ramp or Expensify.
Experience working in a multi-client accounting, bookkeeping, or professional services environment.
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Monday through Friday.
The team generally operates around a 9:00 AM–3:00 PM Pacific Time coverage window, with flexibility in the specific working hours.
