What You Will Do as a Junior Asset Quality Engineer – Solar
The Jr. Junior Asset Quality Engineer owns day-to-day QA/QC reviews for residential solar assets, ensuring designs, installations, and documentation comply with NEC, local jurisdiction, OEM, and company standards.
· Review electrical and mechanical system designs and installations for compliance with NEC, local jurisdiction codes, OEM requirements, and company QA/QC standards.
· Assess technical documents and installation photos to confirm compliance with incentive program and regulatory requirements.
· Perform routine and targeted quality audits on residential solar installations to verify adherence to design specs, code requirements, and company standards.
· Manage assigned project review queues to ensure timely completion within established SLAs.
· Identify quality issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive resolution.
· Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Support the QA/QC Manager in meeting departmental goals, including SLA adherence and process improvement initiatives.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NEC, UL, IBC, and other codes and standards relevant to residential solar.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in QA/QC, construction, or related technical roles; solar experience preferred (internships/field experience accepted).
Ability to interpret technical drawings, system designs, and performance data to identify issues.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Effective communicator, able to collaborate across internal teams and external partners.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities independently in a remote setting.
Familiarity with NEC, UL, and IBC codes and standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience); licensed electricians with solar experience welcome.
Familiarity with PV (photovoltaic) projects.
Working knowledge of residential solar equipment, installation practices, and performance metrics.
Proficiency in Aurora and/or Solargraf.
Experience with financed solar assets or TPO portfolios.
