Position Overview
The Customer Service Representative will work in the dive shop assisting customers, answering questions, ringing up purchases, and helping maintain a welcoming, organized retail environment. While dive experience is a plus, we value a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, and a willingness to learn. You will be an important part of ensuring customers have a smooth, enjoyable experience in the shop.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Interaction & Support

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful assistance.

  • Answer questions about products, services, classes, and basic diving topics.

  • Help customers choose gear and provide recommendations based on their needs.

  • Assist customers in-store, by phone, and via email.

Sales & Checkout

  • Process sales, returns, and exchanges using the point-of-sale system.

  • Handle payments accurately and responsibly.

  • Promote shop services, classes, and specials when appropriate.

Shop Presentation & Organization

  • Keep the retail area clean, organized, and well-stocked.

  • Restock shelves and maintain merchandise displays.

  • Assist with inventory counts and monitor stock levels.

Gear & Service Coordination

  • Receive gear for servicing or repair and accurately record customer requests.

  • Communicate with technicians and customers about service timelines.

  • Provide basic guidance on gear care (training provided).

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the dive shop team to support daily operations.

  • Assist with shop events, classes, and promotions as needed.

  • Help ensure smooth customer flow during busy times.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow shop policies and safety standards when handling gear.

  • Stay informed about new products and shop offerings.

  • Participate in training to build dive knowledge and customer service skills.


Qualifications

Customer Service & Communication

  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong communication skills.

  • Experience in a customer-facing role preferred.

Retail & Sales

  • Basic understanding of point-of-sale systems and cash handling (training provided).

  • Ability to multitask and stay organized.

Diving Knowledge (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Interest in diving or outdoor recreation.

  • Basic familiarity with dive gear is helpful; willingness to learn is essential.

  • Dive certification is a plus.

Professionalism & Reliability

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to great customer experiences.

  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.


Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work weekends or occasional evenings.

  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
