Your Role: GPS AutoCAD Technician – Supporting Precision, Efficiency, and Project Success

A skilled GPS AutoCAD Technician plays a critical role in the success of our projects. This position combines field data collection with technical drafting expertise to produce highly accurate maps, models, and plans using CAD software and GPS tools. By ensuring geospatial data is current and precise, the role directly supports project accuracy, cost control, and field efficiency.

Working closely with engineers, surveyors, and field teams, Sukut's GPS AutoCAD Technician delivers clear and actionable technical drawings, contributes to machine control readiness, and maintains up-to-date documentation. From 3D modeling to geospatial database management, this position enhances our ability to deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions on time and within budget.

This role is ideal for those who value precision, enjoy technical design, and want to contribute meaningfully to large-scale projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collect accurate GPS field data to support mapping, modeling, and project layout needs.

  • Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings, maps, and plans using AutoCAD and other CAD tools.

  • Convert 2D drawings into 3D models to support machine control, and may support earthwork estimation as needed.

  • Maintain and organize geospatial data layers to ensure current and accurate site information.

  • Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and field staff to understand project goals and incorporate real-time feedback.

  • Conduct field verification to ensure plans and models align with actual site conditions.

  • Keep detailed logs of drawings, specifications, and updates for use across project teams.

  • Sync and manage data across platforms to support accurate, cloud-based model delivery to field equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting or a related field (we also welcome a combination of education and hands-on experience in place of a formal degree).

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry with the ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering plans, schematics, and soils reports.

  • 1–3 years of experience using AutoCAD, Trimble, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, or similar software (e.g., AGTEK grading software).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline- driven environment.

  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn new programs, systems, and tools as they are introduced.

  • Must be able to work on-site; this is not a remote position.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and available for full-time hours (Monday–Friday), with overtime as needed.

Nice to Have But Not Necessary

  • 1–3 years of experience as a GPS AutoCAD Technician…and even better if that experience comes from a heavy civil contractor specializing in grading.
