Your Role: Payroll Administrator – Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll.
As a Payroll Administrator at Sukut, you will play a key role in ensuring our workforce is supported through accurate and timely payroll processing. This position manages complex, high-volume, multi-state union payroll while maintaining strict compliance with reporting standards and regulatory requirements. Beyond processing, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for employees by addressing payroll inquiries with clarity and professionalism, and you’ll maintain precise records that keep our operations running smoothly across all projects.
What You’ll Do:
Process high-volume payroll (600+employees) in accordance with multiple union contracts, including Operating Engineers, Laborers, Laborers Solar, Carpenters, Teamsters, Cement Mason/Millrights, and Ironworkers -- across multiple states including, California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Prepare and submit accurate monthly union reports.
Administer garnishments, deductions, and weekly tax payments.
Review time sheets and wage calculations to identify and resolve pay discrepancies.
Issue manual checks as needed for adjustments, shortages, or separations.
Ensure compliance with all EDD audits and reporting requirements.
Respond to pay-related inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
Manage a high volume of paperwork and confidential information with discretion.
Support additional functions and special projects as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
1–3 years of experience in payroll or a related role, with strong knowledge of payroll principles, laws, and regulations (e.g., FLSA, tax requirements).
Ability to work on-site full-time (Monday–Friday), with overtime as needed; must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Proficiency with payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel, including creating and manipulating spreadsheets.
Strong numerical accuracy, data entry skills, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
Strong organizational and time management skills, able to meet strict deadlines and manage high volumes of work.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
Nice to Have But Not Necessary
Associate’s degree or higher
Experience working with Viewpoint Vista and B2W software.
Knowledge of union payroll processing and collective bargaining agreements.
Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing.
Prior experience in the construction industry

Compensation
The reasonable compensation range for this position includes a new hire base hourly rate of $25.00 - $29.00 per hour + comprehensive benefits + potential for a discretionary profit-sharing bonus.
Individual pay within this compensation range may span multiple levels within the role and is determined by assessing job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. It also factors in market demands and business needs. The disclosed range may be subject to change or modification based on business needs in the future.
